Music Theory

Few students can develop proficiency on the piano without a basic understanding of music theory and the ability to read music by sight. These competencies open up a magic door to a world of music, where you can choose from tens of thousands of pieces of music published world wide. Over time, you will be able to select and enjoy the best piano arrangements by your favourite composers, performers and arrangers.

A knowledge of music theory will increase your understanding and appreciation of music. You will learn how to harmonize melodies, analyze musical pieces, read chords and write music. If singing is your interest, you will learn how to accompany yourself as you perform your favourite songs.
